I am writing\u00a0 to provide you with an update on the Midtown Project. The Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) successfully broke through the shaft on the evening of October 3. Technicore has been lifting it out in pieces and we expect it to be fully removed this week.\u00a0 Following this, it will travel on a flatbed truck to the main shaft at Mount Pleasant Rd.<\/p>\n
I would also like to share an updated schedule for work at Bayview Junction. As you many of you know, we experienced a set-back in project timelines when the tunnel at the Mount Pleasant site collapsed in October of last year. This, along with some unforeseen construction issues has caused a delay in the project schedule.\u00a0 The updated schedule is as follows:<\/p>\n
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Line tunnel with concrete: late October 2013 to February 2014
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Cable installation within the tunnel:\u00a0 June 2014 to Feb 2015
\no\u00a0\u00a0 This work will primarily occur inside the tunnel, however there will be some work on the surface.
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Installing new equipment at Bayview Junction: intermittently throughout 2015
\no\u00a0\u00a0 This work will occur in stages throughout 2015.\u00a0 Timing for the work at the junction is dependent on when Hydro One can take the equipment at the station offline, to safely install new components. Typically, Hydro One schedules these outages during times where there is not a high demand on the electricity system. The community will not experience an interruption in power as a result of the outages at the station.
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Old Pottery Road access removal, rehabilitation of site, and landscaping: 2016
\no\u00a0 This timing could change depending on when the new equipment at the junction is installed.<\/p>\n
