Bayview Junction 2015

Midtown Update Jan262014

Midtown_Schedule2015

Good Afternoon,

Attached is an update on Hydro One’s Midtown Project. Technicore has completed their work at Bayview Junction, and we are now moving into the next phase of the project which involves the cable installation within the tunnel and rebuilding the Junction, which will be conducted concurrently.

We will be holding a public meeting, tentatively on February 7, pending confirmation from Bennington Heights Elementary School, to establish a landscaping committee and discuss the landscaping plan for the site, and the Old Pottery Road allowance. We look forward to working with the community on this phase of the project and will provide details on this meeting when they are available.

Our engineers have revisited the junction design and after identifying a number of challenges with the existing design, we have had to expand the footprint beyond what was previously communicated. Additional details are included in the update, and preliminary landscape simulations are attached. Also attached is the project schedule.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Please be advised that Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) is preparing to undertake Phase 2 of channel restoration works along Mud Creek Reach 5, which is located south of the Heath Street East Pedestrian Bridge within Moore Park Ravine. Phase 1 of the project was completed during the spring and summer of 2013.

In general, the scope of work involves installation of channel erosion control measures and improvements to the existing flow regime. The work is expected to commence during the week of January 5, 2015 with an anticipated duration of twelve (12) weeks.

Due to limited space for construction equipment and materials, and the requirement to ensure public safety, TRCA will need to close a 250 metre section of the Beltline Trail which extends from the Heath Street East Pedestrian Bridge to the downstream end of Reach 5. Trail closures will be in effect from Monday to Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. TRCA understand the value of the trail system to the general public therefore the trail will be reopened whenever possible which at a minimum includes evenings, weekends and holidays.

Signs will be installed in the vicinity of the project site later this week to advise the public of the upcoming works and trail closures.

Please find the attached Notice of Project Commencement (NOPC) which will be distributed to properties located adjacent to the work area and along the material delivery route. We encourage you to share this NOPC with members of your organisation or anyone you feel may be interested in this project.

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding this project, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards,
Ashour
